Garozzo’s Garozzo’s Garozzo’s

Continued History of Garozzo’s

In December of 1992, he opened Garozzo’s due at 12801 E 40 Hwy in Independence, Missouri which he sold in January 2003 to his cousin Salvatore. It is now operating under the name of Salvatore’s. He followed that in October of 1997 with Garozzo’s in Overland Park, located at 9950 College Blvd, in the shops of Corporate Woods. On September 25, 2000, Garozzo’s IV opened in Lee’s Summit, Missouri; Garozzo’s in Lee’s Summit has a full service banquet facility upstairs that can accommodate up to 300 guests. In addition, in June of 2003 he opened Garozzo’s V in Wichita.

As each restaurant opens, they immediately become award winners due to the outstanding cuisine and award winning service. Ingram’s Magazine, Zagat National Restaurant Survey, The Squire South Express and The Pitch Weekly have awarded the restaurants by naming them “the best Italian restaurants, best ethnic restaurants, best catering, and best pasta”, to name a few. The Zagat survey gave Garozzo’s Ristorante “a very good to excellent rating”. They followed by saying, “an Italian trio that supplies food so good you will taste it in your dreams, in a Sinatra’s kind of hangout; the attractions include frighteningly huge portions and a signature chicken spiedini that is among the best dishes in town”. “Converts cry Mama Mia! It’s well worth the wait — and there usually is one.” Not only do the restaurants and food win awards, the Missouri Restaurant Association named Michael Garozzo Restaurateur of the Year 2001.

In 1992, Michael made his first trip to Italy. It was then that he decided to create his own private label wine, Garozzo Cellars Chianti Classico using the 1993 vintage. Garozzo Cellars is available by the bottle and glass in each of the restaurants. Not satisfied with dining in for his customers, Michael wanted to recreate the dining experience at home. In 1998, Michael began the process of bottling his Sugo (tomato sauce), Diablo sauce, Amogio, House Italian dressing and Fat Free Italian dressing. He painstakingly makes sure that each recipe is followed to the letter and that each bottle shipped out tastes the same as if you were in the restaurant. Michael’s philosophy of perfection is continued in the Garozzo line of pastas. These products are available at most grocery stores in the Kansas City Metro Area and at all of the restaurants.

Michael, his wife Marguerite ‘Maggie’, his four daughters and the entire Garozzo's staff invite you to a true Italian dining experience.
